The 2012 A-Z challenge begins today

What is the A-Z Challenge?
The A to Z Challenges to post the letter of the alphabet every day during the month of April, with Sundays off for good behavior. Since April 1 falls on a Sunday, that will be the day we start with A.

This is my fist year of participation so I have decided to to 'wing it'.   As long as I post the matching  letter of the alphabet for that day.

So, to day, my 'A' is about Angels.

What are angels?  Are they real, are they myth, and if so why do the play such important roles in all of the wolrd's major faiths, where they are depicted as 'messengers of god'.

The best known in everyday life are the Guardian angels.  Whether parents tell their children they have a Guardian Angel as a form of comfort or from belief doesn't really matter.  The child, at an early age is introduced the the angelic realm of reality.

In today's society angels are big business.  Workshops art work, meditation to name just a few areas where they  have become so important to people.

Do you believe in angels?  Have you ever seen one? Do you have an angelic tale to tell and would like comment on?

There are nearly 1700 participants this year and you'll find a list HERE

I dreamt about my grandmother - my husband and I were driving around her neighborhood and turned down a street we never used in life. We came to a house having a party and Grandma was there in the yard.

Everyone at the party froze, like teenagers caught by the police for underage drinking. Grandma came halfway to the car, but no closer, and must have seen the stunned, hurt look on my face.

She said, "Cinda, you can't be here. You need to leave."

That's when it dawned on me that the only people at the party were all dead.

I woke up very happy thinking they were altogether having fun. Not angels, necessarily, but definitely in heaven.

Nice post! I don't believe in angels, but in Julius I have one in the guise of Alvah Bessie and he's been a lot of fun to write about.

I do. They come in many forms.

When I was nine and my uncle passed, he stayed with me until I was ready to let him go. Thank you for the memory.

I'm also new here and winging. Enjoy the challenge!

great start to the challenge! I've never really wondered about guardian angels - I don't believe in them for religion, because I'm not religious, but I do believe those who have passed watch down. And thanks for checking out and commenting A is for Anti-Political Correctness at Tipping the Axis. Your comment made my day! Jess

I certainly believe in energies and transformations, and particularly in being protected and enlightened by those who have come before.

I don't know that personally I am comfortable with believing in angels in the religious sense, but I can understand why others would.

I do have a great aunt who says she felt her (deceased) husband's hand on her shoulder one morning over breakfast, and heard him whisper in her ear that he would protect her body if she ate a certain meal at the start of every day. She did and was able to discontinue using almost all of her meds for 15+ years.

I also have a friend who was driving in high school and believe her (also deceased) grandmother hit the brakes on her car to save her. Her foot was on the gas pedal, ready to go through a green light, when her car stopped. At the moment her car should have driven through the intersection, another car ran the red at a very high speed. She believes it was her grandma saving her.

Great question to kick off A to Z! Glad you signed up to participate.

Rebecca, I just couldn't get into your 'comments' yesterday, and today I managed. I loved your information about Alvah Bessie, today (Mon).
Thanks for coming by.

Archna, thanks for coming by and sharing your experiences. This challenge is quite an adventure, isn't it?

Judy & Jess, I also believe in 'Earth Angels' strangers who go out of their way to help you in some way without expecting anything in return. I think that's a great name for them :-)

Alana, thank you for sharing both of those wonderful stories, and thank you for your visit.

Hi Sherry,
I'm so happy you stopped by my blog so I had an opportunity to visit yours. I just adore your post on angels. I've actually written a novel on angels, the Angel of Death specifically. It's free on Smashwords, but it's going to see a major facelift in terms of editing in one or two weeks. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/131594
I believe in angels, because my aunt is a psychic and she says her gift was given to her by one. She's told me that story since I was a child and I have faith in it.
